Leadership Training Events

  • Contra Callers' Workshop in Dallas, TX (North Texas Traditional Dance Society)
  • Hands Across the Water, a workshop in Victoria, BC for beginning contra and English country dance callers (Victoria English Country Dance Society)
  • Callers' Workshop at a square dance festival in Portland, OR (Bubbaville)
  • English Country Dance Leaders Workshop in London, ON (True North Music and Dance)
  • "Train the Trainers" weekend in Houston, TX to explore how experienced dancers can improve the quality of dancing at their local dances (North Texas Tradition Dance Society)
  • Series of four contra callers' workshops in Chatham, NJ
  • Band Mentoring Project for Nor'easter, a group in Boston, MA
  • Workshop in Louisville, KY to help new dancers improve their contra dance skills (Louisville Country Dancers)
  • Set for Spring English Weekend in Austin, TX including training sessions for leaders and musicians (Austin Friends of Traditional Music)

Youth-Oriented Events

  • Youth Dance Weekend in Plymouth, VT (Youth Dance Weekend)
  • Introductory contra dance evening at Princeton University in Princeton, NJ (organized by a student)
  • Maple Morris, a weekend for young morris dancers held in Ottawa, ON
  • Whipperstompers' Weekend, a youth-oriented dance weekend in Pickens, SC (organized by a college student)
  • Country Dance Leaders Workshop for home schoolers in the St. Louis, MO area (Dance Discovery)
  • Support to help send a young rapper team to a sword dance festival in the United Kingdom (Clownfish Rapper from Woods Hole, MA)
  • Series of six Teen Musician Training sessions in Poughkeepsie, NY
  • Youth Contra Dance Project in St. Louis, MO to encourage young dancers, musicians, callers and event organizers
  • Dance Workshop for Children plus a Community Dance in Colville, WA
  • Campus contra dance for incoming students in Rochester, NY

Scholarships

  • Matching scholarships for youth attending two summer dance weeks in Mendocino, CA (Bay Area Country Dance Society)
  • Scholarships for young people attending Stellar Days and Nights, a contra dance weekend in Buena Vista, CO (Arkansas Valley Music and Dance)

Other

  • Community Keyboard Project to purchase a keyboard for the Bozeman, MT dance community (Bozeman Folklore Society)
  • Buffalo Big Dance, a special day of dancing in Buffalo, NY (Queen City Contra Dancers)
